Wood and Metal Finishes

Wood choice is important for a quality piece of furniture. It can make a piece of furniture an heirloom.  I use mostly, North American hardwoods and softwoods. The species of wood I use on custom work is usually the customers personal preference. For instance, Walnut is often a choice because of it’s dark color. It looks nice with an Oiled Finish or Clear Coat Finish.  Curly Maple is often used as an accent wood, but it looks fantastic in Natural Oiled or in a Dark Amber Stain. Tiger Maple is often used in Early American furniture, Shaker, Queen Anne, Chippendale and Sheraton furniture. It can be left in it’s natural color, or stained. Some of the furniture, I make is modeled after reproductions, other pieces are my own designs which I tend to mix with metal and used a wood as as accent to the raw steel, or aluminum, usually finished natural.
